RANGERS fans were promised that fresh investment in the club is coming by interim chairman John Gilligan.
And they might find it in the form of Billy Walker.
The veteran distiller told the Rangers Review that he would be open to putting money into the club, albeit not as a primary investor.
He said: “In reality, would I like to invest? Yes, if the circumstances were right.
“Would I be the principal investor? No, that would be for somebody else.
“I’ve had conversations in the past but in parallel with what’s happening in the football world, there’s also what’s happening in my own business world, there’s always demand.”

That business is The GlenAllachie Distillers Company, which Walker bought in 2017 after decades of experience in several other whisky brands.
Walker is credited with revitalising the brand since then, launching a single malt in 2018 which made big names in the industry sit up and take notice, even earning the title of World’s Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards in 2021.
The 79-year-old hasn’t stopped innovating, this year launching a rebrand of the whisky bottles’ designs, which the company says is ‘a better reflection of the quality of the whisky’.
That desire for improvement would go down well with the Rangers supporters, who have made it clear that they expect the turmoil in the boardroom – they are currently operating without a permanent chairman and CEO – to be solved.
Walker continued: “The reality is the board has the fiscal responsibility to make sure all the correct financial levers are in the right places and they can see a future, that’s very important.
“It’s really important to see past the next week and certainly the next five years and determine where the club is going.”
Meanwhile, former Rangers star Alfredo Morelos’ club Atletico Nacional are reportedly planning to axe the striker following his drink-driving shame.
The Colombian is on loan from Santos, who are also understood to be looking to get rid of the 28-year-old.
