The Magnificent 7 stocks are back in the lead for the S&P 500. Well, sort of.
With Alphabet’s more than 5% pop Wednesday, it’s now up 29% for the year, versus the S&P 500’s 23% gain. Alphabet turned in a better-than-expected quarter, which showed growth across all businesses, partially driven by the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities.
The stock’s gain has brought Meta Platforms’ stock up 0.9% Wednesday — and 73% for the year.
Amazon.com stock is up 29% this year, while Apple is up 24%. Nvidia remains up more than twofold.
The laggards are Microsoft and Tesla, up 17% and 5% respectively for the year.
