Futures on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 have shaken off earlier weakness as traders awaited the latest weekly jobless claims report.
Meanwhile, Dow futures remained stuck in the red, only marginally above their session lows.
Here’s where futures were trading:
S&P 500 futures up 6 points, or 0.1%, at 5,234.
Dow futures down 36 points, or 0.1%, at 38,875.
Nasdaq-100 futures up 32 points, or 0.2%, at 17,999.
Thursday’s weekly jobless claims report could determine in which direction stocks head after Wall Street opens, according to Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research.
“Today focus will be on Weekly Jobless Claims (E: 240K) and a better-than-expected number (so under 240k) will help incrementally ease slowdown fears. Conversely, if claims jump above 250k, expect recession worries to rise further and stocks to react accordingly (lower).”
