The directors of a social enterprise which has supported Dumfries and Galloway’s independent producers, makers and crafters have made the “difficult decision” to stop trading.
The Guild Dumfries CIC was launched in spring 2018 and held a number of events, including makers markets and a gift shop in the town centre.
However, directors Leah Halliday, Natalie Farrell, Diane Laws and Rebecca Masterton have said it is “no longer feasible” to continue for a number of reasons, including “changes in circumstances for the directors, financial factors, capacity and mainly volunteer fatigue”.
A statement released on Wednesday said: “Over the last five or so years, The Guild Dumfries CIC have loved collaborating with so many organisations, businesses, and members of our community.
“We are immensely grateful and thankful for the support and encouragement you have given us throughout our journey.
“We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished together during the many projects, markets, pop ups and events we have produced and managed.
“While this marks the end of a chapter for The Guild Dumfries CIC, we remain grateful for the cherished memories, learnings and relationships forged along the way.”
The Guild’s gift shop, Flourish, will continue to operate in the High Street until May 31.
