JAMMU, Mar 29: The Master Sansar Chand Gallery witnessed a remarkable inauguration of the “Rang” art exhibition, curated by Monia Kapoor and Nidhi Jain under the auspices of the Kala Kendra Society.
The event, graced by a group of artists, painters, and dignitaries from the fine art domain, unfolded with a fervour resonating the essence of creativity and tradition.
Principal Secretary, Culture and Tribal Affairs, Suresh Kumar Gupta; Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda; Secretary of Culture, Deepika Kumari Sharma, Padam Shri Balwant Thakur, Secretary of Kala Kendra Society, Dr Javaid Rahi, and renowned artist Bhushan Kesar among others were in the presidium of the inaugural function.

Dr Javaid Rahi, extending a warm welcome to the dignitaries, underscored the exhibition’s mission to foster modern art appreciation among the youth, as exemplified by the diverse array of 50 works showcasing themes of creativity, landscaping, and traditional Thanjavur paintings depicting religious motifs.
Suresh Kumar Gupta lauded the exceptional talent of Kapoor and Jain, particularly acknowledging their finesse in Thanjavur painting, a genre synonymous with classical South Indian artistry.
Gupta reaffirmed the Culture Department’s commitment to bolstering such initiatives, aiming to revitalize artistic endeavors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sheetal Nanda echoed Gupta’s sentiments, commending the artists’ dedication to promoting both contemporary and traditional art forms. She emphasized the pivotal role of platforms like “Rang” in nurturing artistic expression and safeguarding cultural heritage.
Padam Shri Balwant Thakur applauded the exhibition for honouring indigenous traditions, advocating for concerted efforts to preserve and elevate regional artistic heritage.
Originating from Kota, Rajasthan, Nidhi Jain’s distinctive style garnered acclaim from prestigious institutions such as Lalit Kala Academy and Soroop, showcasing her profound understanding of visual art.
Meanwhile, Monia Kapoor’s expertise in Thanjavur painting illuminated the canvas, weaving a narrative that resonated with centuries-old tradition infused with her unique flair.
