VALLEY — The Valley Arts Council is proud to announce Making My Mark, a dynamic youth art show celebrating the creativity of K-12 students throughout Chambers County and the surrounding area. The event will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 12th and 13th at Valley Community Center and promises to be a vibrant showcase of local talent both visual arts and creative writing.
“With this being our 25th year as an arts council, we wanted to do something special to celebrate this anniversary year,” said Valley Arts Council President Suzie Britt. “We think we will be that by having this spring season art show featuring our youth. In our first 24 years of putting on these shows, we have always had our youth shows in the Bobby Crowder Room at the Community Center alongside an adult art show that was taking place in the big gym across the hall. This upcoming show will be solely for our youth and will be taking place in the big gym. Half of the show will feature the visual arts done by the students and half will have creative writing.”
For just $5 per student, participants are invited to submit their work. Each student will be allowed two entries in visual arts and one entry for creative writing. It’s an affordable opportunity that’s designed to allow young artists to explore their creativity, build confidence and to share their unique gifts with the community.
“Every child has a story to tell and a unique way of seeing the world,” said Arts Council member Amy Guinn. “With Making My Mark, we’re providing a platform where our young creatives can show, and truly make, their mark on our community.”
